Objective
The objective of this project was to develop a complete set of working design documentation for a welded lock joint (box and pin) for the TBSU-50 universal drill pipe. The work was carried out using reverse engineering methods to produce drawings and models fully conforming to the physical specimen and suitable for subsequent manufacturing or repair.
Tasks
To achieve the objective, the following tasks were completed: precise measurements of the physical box and pin specimens were taken; relevant regulatory documentation (GOST (Russian state standard) R 51245-99) was selected and analyzed, which allowed the product to be identified as a Z-53 tool joint; parametric 3D models of the parts were created in Autodesk Inventor CAD software; based on the models, a set of working drawings was developed specifying all dimensions, tolerances, material requirements, and heat treatment in accordance with ESKD (Unified System for Design Documentation) standards.
Result
The project delivered a ready-to-use set of design documentation for the lock joint.
