Objective
The primary goal of this project was to create a highly detailed digital 3D model of an industrial dredge. The client required the model as the foundation for a "digital twin," needed for engineering analysis, planning a major modernization of key assemblies (boom, rotating platform), and producing up-to-date technical documentation and marketing materials.
Source Data and Complexity
The project was carried out with no existing 3D models available. The work was based on an archive of Soviet-era engineering documentation provided as scanned drawings.
A dredge is a large-scale, complex machine comprising thousands of components. Many drawings were low-resolution, partially lost, or contained illegible elements. In-depth engineering analysis was required to accurately recreate complex assemblies and kinematic linkages despite incomplete source data.
Result
The completed deliverable was a full and accurate 3D model of the dredge, fully consistent with the engineering documentation. The digital asset was delivered to the client and is ready for further use.
Software used: KOMPAS-3D v15, Autodesk Inventor
